Looking for better transportation options and a pool of potential new workers, a senior housing company is moving its headquarters and about 100 jobs from suburban Milwaukee to Chicago, with plans to hire more here.

Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based Assisted Living Concepts Inc. plans to move in December to 330 N. Wabash Ave., according to a joint statement issued by the company, Gov. Pat Quinn, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and World Business Chicago, the city’s economic development arm. The company was acquired in July by Texas private-equity investment firm TPG Capital LP in a roughly $278 million deal.

The company, with 2012 annual revenue of around $228 million, has leased about 25,000 square feet in its new location, the historic former IBM Building.
